Toyota Motor Finance

Techincal data architect. A role encompasing Oracle DBA and SAP basis consultant. This job was offered on reccomendation, I did not apply.

TMF-Europe is a new branch of Toyota, set up to deal with motor finance for Europe. We went live in Italy and Norway in quarter 3. 14 further roll outs are due in the next 2 years.

I continued my Oracle DBA experience, now with NT using version 7.3.3. The work also involves administering Designer and developer 2000. The databases are growing rapidly now we are live. I the London database to reach 2 Gb by the end of the 4th quarter 97. I have put in place replication back to London from all sites.

The aplications running on oracle are leasetek and helpdesk for windows. I have gained much experience in both, as I have installed the oracle end of both, fault fixed and administered.

I now also am the onsite SAP basis admistrator. We are using SAP 3.0F on Oracle NT machines. These are accessed from all sites over the WAN. We also have many interfaces going from remote sites back to London. I have implememnted and documented these.

There is a lot of skills transfer in this role as I am the only oracle resource here. I have to write a lot 'on the fly ' and aid users wherever possible as our team is small.

Digital Equipment Coparation

SAP basis consultant on Oracle/NT platform.

Implementation of SAP to several clients and supporting the clients both on-siteand remotely.

As the first Digital basis consultant, I set up R3 for the new customers digital had won through its 3rd party supporting arm. This involved using several tachnologies within R3 andliasing with the development, operations and management of the customers as well as giving direction to the equivalent areas within digital. This involved a major amount of knowledge transfer which went very successfully.

My tasks ranged from setting up all areas of SAP, including desktops, security, printing, OSS, database tuning and training to giving presentations and management overviews.

In the last two months before I left, I managed the setting up of the digital basis team as the amount of work grew. In this I liased with agencies, interviewed staff and recommended appointments. I also set up the standards and procedures manual for the team.

I also assisted in setting up the R3area of the Digital disaster recovery team and aided in the transition of DEC to Compaq computers.

I managed several projects, ranging from upgrades and installs to evaluating new business and new business areas for customers.

Sap technologies were from 3.0f to 31h.

National Westminster Bank

SAP basis consultant on MSSQL/NT platform.

Initally brought into the business side of Nat West and was a member of the successful 31h upgrade and live support team.

Then I was moved into another area which is implenting a major project involving SAP. My main tasks were to help formualte the initial structure of he new landscape and help design how it was to be integrated into the current SAP landscape. I was also asked to provide various reports on different section of SAP, for management review.

Later I was moved to the technical area and joined the SAP support team. The major roles are assisting in support and building the knowledge of the permanent members of the SAP team. Also writing a full operations manual.

In the team I have headed projects to upgrade landscapes to 3.1F, MSSQL 7 and 4.5B. All projects were successfully completed on time and within budget. We were the first UK site to receive 4.5B, which we installed, on our testbed, within 4 days of days of reciept to comply with contractual agreements.

I have also installed all the above levels of software, plus 4.0A and 4.5A.

As part of the upgrade project to 4.5B I also coverted out landscape to use STMS.
